Step 1: expanse the expression -6x8 -6x(-7p) < -48 -48 + 42p < -48 step 2: add both side of inequation by 48 to keep the term with p by it self it gives : 42p < 0 Step 3: divide both side by 42 get: p < 0. Note: when we do division or multiplication to a negative number ( <0). The direction of inequation has to be reversed. Look at this example : 1 < 2 is a true statement now multiply both side by a negative number, let say -2 LHS become : (-2)*1 = -2 and RHS become : (-2)*2 = -4. clearly -2 > -4, which is why when multiply(or devide) by a negative number, the direction of inequation has to be reversed.
