ok, to do this you need to figure out the total number of sea creatures first. how many are there?

now to get the percentage, you multiply by 100, .48*100 = ?

right, so 48% are fish. so the formula would be: find the fraction, evaluate the fraction to decimal, then multiply by 100, add the % (percent) symbol.

    not quite, you off by a factor of 10. so x = .08 * 50

    It's also easy to view it as: How many % does 1 creature represent? If 50 = 100%, 25 = 50%

Pick whatever style of approach you find is easiest, either the one I gave you, or the one dpflan did. Both are pretty much the same thing though but phrased differently. Think about the answers for a minute or two. Try to figure it out :)

If the answer would be 16, there should be a type of creature that actually has that amount represented. Is there?

So no, the answer is not 16, right? Try to figure out a better answer that we can agree on. Go back to our earlier replies and think about it.
