Basically, a irrational number cannot be formed as a rational number. If you have the number 1.5 it can be formed as a rational number 3/2. Therefore 1.5 is not a irrational number. \[\sqrt{2}\] is one irrational number, since you can never represent it accurately as a/b (rational number). \[\pi\] and e are also irrational numbers that you cannot represent accurately in the form a/b, as a rational number.
