Double the sum of a number and 6 is equal to the opposite of the number. Find the number. ?????

    This sounds like a "Translate words into an equation". Double = "Multiply by two" The sum of = " adding things together The opposite of a number = ???? (Could mean the NEGATIVE of a number or the INVERSE of a number) Ask your teacher which it is. :)
