## anonymous 5 years ago im a junior at francis lewis high school i need help with geometry

1. anonymous

in the diagram below PQRS is a trapezoid with ST perpindicular to PQ. TU is the median if SR=x PQ =x +10 and TU =17 what is the value of x?

2. anonymous

helpp

3. anonymous

it is very difficult, to explain concept about geometry...... you are welcome to talk to me on skype ,if u want so, nothing to pay..... sudhanshu_kmr

4. anonymous

median = ((x+10)+x)/2=17

5. anonymous

then x = 12 right?? tell me if its wrong

6. anonymous

how did u get that formula and how do u know where to plug in everything?

7. anonymous

PQ is parallel to RS right?

8. anonymous

yes

9. anonymous

then median=TU=(PQ+RS)/2

10. anonymous

what is this formula i was never taught this

11. anonymous

i also know it on google image= search trapezoid median xD

12. anonymous

woah i see and yes it was 12

13. anonymous

okay... study smart :) are you muslim?

14. anonymous

yupe name kinda gives it away doesnt it? lol

15. anonymous

i just want confirmation :) assalamualaikum... farewell

16. anonymous

waiiitt one more question

17. anonymous

if SR=4 and PQ=12 WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF TU?

18. anonymous

SR and PQ parallel?

19. anonymous

yes

20. anonymous

TU= median?

21. anonymous

yes

22. anonymous

then median =8

23. anonymous

how do u find it?

24. anonymous

25. anonymous

yes

26. anonymous

the same formula im using that is (sum of the parallel side)/2 = (PQ+RS)/2=(12+4)/2= median median = 16/2= 8

27. anonymous

ohh i seee your a great help man thanks

28. anonymous

Wallahualam.. Farewell

asalamwalikum take care
