if 1 quart = 2 pints and 3quarts if ice cream cost $6.00. How much does 1 pint of ice cream cost?

    If 3 quarts = $6.00, then divide by 3 on both sides and you get 1 quart = $2.00 You're told that 1 quart = 2 pints, so substitute 1 quart with $2.00 (which you calculated before) 2 pints = $2.00, so 1 pint = $1.00.
