isolate it by getting everything off the side with y. So first, subtract 3x

You have to do that to both sides and you'll get y=something

You don't have to keep saying your student. Clearly you need help with this too. But anyway, what's the coefficient on the x?

Why are you an aide if you don't know how to help the students? The coefficient is not actually a 3, because if you divide everything by 2, you actually get: y=4-3x/2 so the coefficient is 3/2 not 3

The best way to graph it is by choosing a value for x, and solving to see what y is and plotting a point there. This graph is a line, so if you choose x=1,2,3,4,5,etc. it should come out to be a straight line.
