If you write this with arrows, things will make more sense. For example, here $Square\rightarrow Rectangle$ and $Rectangle\rightarrow Parallelogram$ The law of syllogism says if $A\rightarrow B$ and $B\rightarrow C$ then $A\rightarrow C$ So here, we deduce that $Square \rightarrow Parallelogram$
