i think you are actually supposed to add them all up ... becaues that would be a big number multiplying woudl give you more than the sides but you are addind just those shapes.

Does the problem state "write the product of the numbert of sides......" Does the problem include the septagon?
If the septagon is omitted then it would be: 3 x 4 x 5 x 6 x 8 = ??????

but if you are adding up all of the sides it would be ADDING not multiplying all the shapes. you are adding each polygons sides together,
"Write the product of the number of sides of a triangle, a quadrilateral, a pentagon, a hexagon, and an octagon."
I think it is a typo and should say sum instead of product

O.K It asking for the product, so I would give them the product, you don't your daughter to get in the habit of ignoring what the problem is asking for.

Actually this was a good exercise. It required knowing the number of sides of various shapes, and the ability to follow instructions.
