well, the trig functions are periodic and their values ocillate between a max and - max point. If t is a value, and sec(t) is an operating function. The cos (pi) =- 1, the sec(x) = 1 /cos(t). and is therefore actually -1. 1 would be if t is apporoaching 2pi.
