anonymous 5 years ago how do i solve this for x? x^2=1/2 and x^2=3/2

1. anonymous

square root both sides.

2. anonymous

right, but i don't understand how to do that. the example given is this: x^2=2/3 and x^2=3/5 and somehow they get this: x=$\pm \sqrt{6}/3 and \pm \sqrt{15}/5$

3. anonymous

i don't understand the steps between the two

4. anonymous

x=+sqrt(1/2) or x+-sqrt(1/2)

5. anonymous

the same for 3/2
