    growth rate in general refers to increase in revenues of the company durin a year cmpared to previous year

    That's just one of seeing it. Lot of firms who are growing might not have a lot of revenues to show and still can be considered to be growing. I would rather focus on the growth prospects, cap ex for growth firms and EVA for a mature firm.
