How has U.S. immigration policy changed through the years? Explain key changes and identify current policies?

    Immigration policy has changed significantly. My great grandparents came through Coney Island and had the American dream in their grasp. Now we are sending skilled labor back home. http://www.inc.com/news/articles/2009/03/immigrants.html

    At first you didn't need a passport. All you needed was a boat. Now you need a passport and a plane. Unless you're coming to the United States on foot. Then you need a passport and a good pair of shoes. You also need a good immigration attorney.
