$\sqrt{3}-\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}}=\frac{3-1}{\sqrt{3}}=\frac{2}{\sqrt{3}}=\frac{2\sqrt{3}}{3}$

The last line just uses cross multiplication to put the whole thing over a common denominator, and in the last step, we've multiplied by $\frac{\sqrt{3}}{\sqrt{3}}$which is just 1 (so we put the surd expression into a 'nicer' form without changing the number.
