HELP PLEASE: Connie spent $3 less than twice what Brenda spent. Connie spent $81. how much did Brenda spend?

    If Brenda's spending is x, then Connie's spending can be expressed as y=2x-3. Plugging in that Connie spent $81 gives us 81=2x-3. Solve for x.
