u can factorise it in term of (x+a)(x+b)

2. anonymous

(-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4*a*c))/(2a)

3. anonymous

X=-13sqrt (-13^2-4(4)(12)/2(4)

4. anonymous

X=-13sqrt+ (-13^2-4(4)(12)/2(4)

sorry mistake

$5x^2 -5x-60=0 \rightarrow 5(x^2 -x -12) = 0 = 5(x+a)(x+b)$ So what two numbers a and b add together to give -1 and multiply together to give -12
