for each subject, multiply the scale of the grade by the credit hours and add them all up, then divide them by the total number of hours..

that is: 2B+3A+4C+3B+1A=2(3)+3(4)+4(2)+3(3)+1(4)=39 points now divide this by the total hours which is 13 39/13=3 so the GPA is 3 out of 4
