The course instructs a download of 3.5.4 python version. When I try to download it is not supported by my system. I did the windows AMD64 download, I just cant seem to get it to work. Anyone got any advise? I have an HP Windows xp vista amd 64x2. Please help?

    3.5.4 is ideal for the course, but as long as you remember that you're running something slightly different, using 2.7 shouldn't be too much of a problem. try downloading that.

    Obviously I meant 2.5.4 sorry, but for some reason I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been at this for hours!!! I have team viewer, does anyone care to remote help me please!!!

    i have 2.7 on windows 7 and it works alright for me. i really want to help you because this is a great course and it will benefit you a lot, but im not sure how much of a help i can be with setting up python.

    I cant seem to get any of them to work. I have vista, xp is on my older one.

    If you can guide me step by step I am willing to try about anything at this point. It is probably much simpler than I am making it...LOL

    this is a long shot, but might as well try this first: go to http://ninite.com/ click windows at the top, go to the bottom and check python then click get installer.

    it says it is installing now... hopful... can you friend me on here as a study partner. maybe you can help me if I have issues with the later install with my assignments?

    awesome. i dont think the fan thing works like friending someone. make note of my name and i'll make note of yours. i keep an eye on this group a lot, so i should see if you post another question and i'll be glad to help you. if you have difficulty and can find this thread again (maybe bookmark it) i'll be alerted to a reply in this thread.

    There are 3 choices. I assume either IDLE(python GUI) or Python command line

    IDLE and the command line will both be useful. i believe the lectures explain more to give you an introduction to what each is used for. but basically, the command line is used to write programs and IDLE runs your programs. IDLE will also do some other cool interactive things to help you get used to Python. open it and do some math if you want.
