3.5.4 is ideal for the course, but as long as you remember that you're running something slightly different, using 2.7 shouldn't be too much of a problem. try downloading that.
Obviously I meant 2.5.4 sorry, but for some reason I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been at this for hours!!! I have team viewer, does anyone care to remote help me please!!!
I was very interested in this course, maybe I need some prereq's first.
i have 2.7 on windows 7 and it works alright for me. i really want to help you because this is a great course and it will benefit you a lot, but im not sure how much of a help i can be with setting up python.
I cant seem to get any of them to work. I have vista, xp is on my older one.
are you downloading from the python site?
yes but I am not getting exe files for some reason.
If you can guide me step by step I am willing to try about anything at this point. It is probably much simpler than I am making it...LOL
this is a long shot, but might as well try this first: go to http://ninite.com/ click windows at the top, go to the bottom and check python then click get installer.
doing that now. brb
actually you dont even have to click on windows i dont think
it says it is installing now... hopful... can you friend me on here as a study partner. maybe you can help me if I have issues with the later install with my assignments?
ok, which one do I use for my assignments? It installed correctly! :)
awesome. i dont think the fan thing works like friending someone. make note of my name and i'll make note of yours. i keep an eye on this group a lot, so i should see if you post another question and i'll be glad to help you. if you have difficulty and can find this thread again (maybe bookmark it) i'll be alerted to a reply in this thread.
what do you mean by which one for assignments?
There are 3 choices. I assume either IDLE(python GUI) or Python command line
has anyone ever told you how awesome you are. I really appreciate the help! Thank you! six hours and you solved my issue in six minutes...lol
IDLE and the command line will both be useful. i believe the lectures explain more to give you an introduction to what each is used for. but basically, the command line is used to write programs and IDLE runs your programs. IDLE will also do some other cool interactive things to help you get used to Python. open it and do some math if you want.
YW. Hope to talk with you again soon. gonna go study now! :)
glad to help
I am just starting....finished lectures 1 & 2. But didn't do readings yet...can we study together. Thanks.
It would be a great idea for you and silvlan to try to study together, but im also here if you have any questions.
