You need to think about this as 3 1/2 when you have a mixed number and you are trying to turn it into an improper fraction... what do you do?

    OK, so that is exactly what this is think of this problem as written 1/2 + 3 which is 3 1/2 so we have (10x + 3) {that is like the 3} (10x + 3) 3x - 1/3x^2 {that is like the 1/2} so you take 3x^2(10x + 3) + (3x - 1) all over 3x^2 Just like we take 2 * 3 + 1 all over 2 Do you understand that?

    I am saying that is what you do with 3 1/2 so do the same thing with this one. 3x^2(10x + 3) + (3x - 1) all over 3x^2 distribute (30x^3 + 9x^2 + 3x - 1)/3x^2
