    finding the area of a pentagon is done by cutting it up into a bunch of right triangles (those are easy to solve) http://www.math-prof.com/Geom/Geom_Ch_26.asp

    to find surface area you need to find the area of each side, you have two sides that are pentagons and 5 sides taht are rectangles. find the area of each side and add them all up
