    This might be easier to visualize if you draw a picture of what is going on. The building is 320 feet tall, meaning that the elevator travels 320 feet inside of the building. If the total distance it travels is 360 feet, then you simply subtract the known distance from the total distance. 360 feet - 320 feet = 40 feet
