in this equation ....... y^2= m(x)^2 +c.........................is there a linear relation between x and y........if no then why??????????plzzzzzz hlp me out guyz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    If you can't get it into the form y = ax + b then it's not linear.

    see its linear between x^2 and y^2........they must be directly proptnl.. thn y nt x nd y????

    Yes, but when you take the square root, the C messes up the linear relationship between x and y. The function you have there is a hyperbola.

    Because x^2 ∝ y^2 DOES NOT imply x ∝ y

    x^2 and y^2 would indicate a circle, or ellipse...... one of the comics at least :)...right?
