I'm not sure but i don't think there is much to sketching parabolas. Set y=0 to get the x-intercepts. Quadratic formula or factoring. You can find the one critical point which, knowing the graph of a concave up parabola, is the global minimum. (You can also complete the square to get the parabola into vertex form) I was taught that with 3 points you can graph a parabola and what better three points than the most important.
