a plane flies from St. louis to chicago, a distance of 297 miles, in 45 minutes. Use the formula d=rt to find its average speed.

    d = rt 297 = r(.75) time must be in hours. r = 396 mph

    use the formula d=rt where distance, d=297 miles and time t-45 minutes and the rate is the unknown, r dividing both sides of the equation by t we have d/t=r plugging in our known values gives 297/45 miles per hour
