    Car has 14 gallon gas tank that is filled as as soon as level drops below a half tank Every time it is filled up, you add 1 quart (1/4) gallon of an additive.......

    that is what I have for difference equation and initial value that models the amount of additive in tame at the time of the nth fill-up

    4 so 1/4 = .25

    so (7 - .25) gallons is the amount of gas put in at each fill up

    if you try to add a quart after filling up the tank, theres no room for it in the example....

    14 gallon tank cant hold 14.25 gallons...... right?

    so the amount of gas is 6.75n and the amount of additive is .25n ..... the total amount of gas and additives used at the nth time is ..... if I understand your question correctly :)
