    y=2x^2-8x+7 i have to find the axis of symmetry the coordinates of the vertex and tell whether the vertex is a maximum or a minimum

    hmmm ok I'm not sure I can give you the best explanation or even the right answer... I can't remember how to do this exactly... If I were you I would take the actual problem and repost it.... I'm super sorry just don't want to steer you wrong

    The graph will be symmetrical about the line through its vertex and it's focal point.

    often it helps to find the x intercept, but in this case there aren't any. So just complete the square and get it to be a translation of y = x^2.
