a compnay wants to have 3 digit phone extensions with the 1st digit not being zero

    1st digit can be any number from 1-9 (9 choices) 2nd digit can by 0-9 (10 choices) 3rd digit can be 0-9 (10 choices) 9*10*10 = 900 900 different extensions
