Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0thats a linear equation with a positive slope....

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0errr.. a negative slope lol;

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0p = (1/100000) x + 10

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0when x = 0 you have a maximum of 10; the higher x goes, the less you make

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0or am i missing something

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I don't think so. There's logic in your answer ^_^

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0this might be the derivative and is asking fo ryouto integrate from 0 to 60000

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0hmmm, no wait, wouldn't that be a minimum?

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0if 0 tickets are sold, then you gained p=10000

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0f'(x) = 0 at 10000/10 then

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0oh right lol, it's over (10,000) ^_^" my bad lol

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0f'(x)= 1000; integrate from 0 to 60000?

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0no need to integrate, from the function , you can figure out the maximum, just like you did :)

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0x increases= less money, like you've said. so the maximum is at x = 0?

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0well i am thinking that this is the derivative of a higher function; and its max value is at 1000 for x; so the integral would tell us the price right?

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0but wouldn't wouldn't the price be found after plugging in x =0 in the function? :)

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0if this was the true function then yes, but the wording has me believe that the optimazation is given by this equation; and not the true function...

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0mmm, so we have to optimize in this case? ^_^to find the maximum

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0i think so :) so we would integrate the given to find the true value; with x = 1000; becasue that is where p'(x) = 0

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0Alright, now I got what you mean lol proceed ^_^

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0the 60000 gives us an initial condition; possiply at (0,60000)

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0so we'll integrate from 0>6000?

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0dunno if we integrate of simply anchor it in at (0,60000) p=10(x/10000)

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0P(x)=10x x^2/2(10000) + C

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.010(1000) (1000)(1000)/2(10000) 10000 500/10

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0P(1000) = 60000 = 9950 + C C = 60000 9950 = 50050 P(x) = 10(x) x^2/20000 + 50050 ??

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0maybe integrate from 0 to 60000 :) ??? dunno

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I think we have made it look more complicated than it seems, lol?

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0do you know what I think?

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0since the maximum price of tickets is achieved when x=0, then for 60000 seats, the maximum price will be = 600,000

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0maximum price = 600,000? or max revenue?

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0see the wording is off...

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0hmm, we have :\[p(x) = 10\frac{x}{10000}\] so if we take x = 0: \[p(0) = 10\] so we can tell that the original price of the ticket is = 10. Now for 60000 seats, we need 60000 people, so each person is going to buy a ticket. In the end, maximum price achieved = 600,000 I'm not sure, but I'm just computing what I have understood from the question ^_^" ahaha...

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0so the maximum values for x and p : x = 0, and p = 10

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0i agree that that is a possible interpretation of the problem :) but maximum price is not 600,000; that would be revenue. Max price if anything would be 10 lol

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0oh, right >_< well, atleast you got what I mean =P

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0x=50,000 p=5 maximum money = p*x = 250,000

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0if x = tickets sold, then how can 0 ticket sold bring in 600,000 :)

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0where did you get the 50,000 and 5? ..

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0money received is revenue which equals price*quantity quantity is num seats sold = x so the function to maximized is p*x = x(10x/10,000)

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0annnnnnwaaaar~ lol ^_^

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0but the number of seats = 60,000 and not 50k lol :)

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I don't know where you guys have reached. But, I think the idea here is to maximize the total money received. Total money= price of one ticket * # of tickets= xp(x).

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.060,000 available not sold

anonymous
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0so how did you get 50k?

amistre64
Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0i understand it now.... i think lol

anonymous

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0differentiate above function set =0 solve for x

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0p = 0 and solve for x?

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0whoever wrote this problem could have been clearer ;)

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0xp(x)=f(x)=10xx^2/10,000 f'(x)=102x/10,000=0 implies x=50,000

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0When u do differentation u get 100000 as x for max(Y). but max x is only 60000, so, by substituting u get y=4, so total amt. p*x=240000.
