• This Question is Closed
1. anonymous

x^2=1/2

2. anonymous

you mean bsae 2 right?

3. anonymous

x= -1

4. anonymous

yeah base 2. so 2^x=4/8

5. anonymous

you mean 2^x = 4/8 uzma ^_^

6. anonymous

2^(x) = 1/2 2^x = 2^(-1)

7. anonymous

x=-1

8. anonymous

awww....right, 2 is base

9. anonymous

ooooh i'm an idiot. i didn't simplify. got it. thanks guys!

10. anonymous

I got -1 with my calculator but not sure how to explain it ^_^"

11. anonymous

oh, he/she got it, wonderful ^_^

12. anonymous

how old r u sstarica?

13. anonymous

guessing like 3rd year uni

14. anonymous

4/8=1/2 2^-1=1/2

15. anonymous

8

16. anonymous

18* >_<!

17. anonymous

I'm 18 lol

18. anonymous

k

19. anonymous

why? .-.

20. anonymous

is it bad o_o

21. anonymous

just wondering, you seem like a uni maths student, and you dont know how to explain that the answer is -1 without a calculator

22. anonymous

lol,I'm an IT student ^_^ and I'm trying my best

23. anonymous

I'm sorry if I wasn't able to explain this one though :(

24. anonymous

no I dont care , just seemed a little strange

25. anonymous

I know, it's that simple that I can't explain it, I know >_< it happens to me alot

26. anonymous

o o just forget it, look i judged it correctly, n typed it wrongly :(-

27. anonymous

lol ^_^

28. anonymous

it's okay uzma, it happens to me alot LOL

29. anonymous

yea its ok :P

30. anonymous

yes it is ^_^

31. anonymous

n u know wrong typing confuses the student :s

32. anonymous

yep :) lol

33. anonymous

I should have done maths degree , some of the elec engineering subjects I do are kinda hard , but maths is just maths , reckon I could have got better marks at it. Only problem is that a maths degree is kinda useless for getting a job, plus it would get boring after a while

34. anonymous

yep, that's why I entered IT, I love maths + all sorts of sciences, but I need a good job

35. anonymous

IT, do you have to do computer programming?, I had to do two semesters of first year programming in C, wasnt very fun and I didnt get a very good mark :|

36. anonymous

I wanted to be an engineer

37. anonymous

yep, but using java

38. anonymous

fun? who said it was fun *faint* O_O

39. anonymous

no elec wrong......m screaming

40. anonymous

why are you screaming lol?

41. anonymous

$log_2 \frac{4}{8} = log_2 4 - log_2 8 = log_2 2^2 - log_2 2^3 = 2-3 = -1$ Is another way you can solve it.

42. anonymous

mathematician cant a good job :P

43. anonymous

oh don't worry abt what he said or what I have said, just keep doing what you love and everything will be fine in the end ^_^

44. anonymous

polpak >_< that's a very nice way to solve it

45. anonymous

yea i do the same

46. anonymous

i love mathematics

47. anonymous

^_^ that's good, same~

48. anonymous

I'm a CS major, so I've done C, C++, Java, and ASM ;)

49. anonymous

I dont know, just that I wanna build stuff and be useful to society , one day many years fromnow everyone will remember me because of some great electrical invention :P

50. anonymous

wow..good pol

51. anonymous

wow o_o I heard C is hard, but since I'll be majoring in Computer engineering, I was told that we have to learn C

52. anonymous

lol polpak :) that's a nice dream

53. anonymous

Yeah, C is used a lot for embedded hardware.

54. anonymous

i need to learn MATLAB

55. anonymous

oh good LORD , good luck to me =_=

56. anonymous

any expert here??

57. anonymous

I use MATLAB in my communication lab class

58. anonymous

^_^

59. anonymous

maths is just maths , all it is is repetition

60. anonymous

but still a beginner lol

61. anonymous

oh good to hear:)

62. anonymous

math is life, math is love, math is everything ^_^

63. anonymous

i still need to begin...must communicate with u :P

64. anonymous

it represents the geometry of the beautiful universe :)

65. anonymous

no, its a tool to make things easier , its a tool , not the whole story

66. anonymous

lol, I face difficulty in it myself >_<

67. anonymous

lol, to me, math is everything :)

68. anonymous

its a tool without which u cant take a start:)

69. anonymous

every problem in life, is just like a math problem ~ something Albert Einstein has said

70. anonymous

lol, different points of views, nice ^_^

71. anonymous

elec...u r an engineer?

72. anonymous

well, there was a method to my madness when I chose a username

73. anonymous

well, there was a method to my madness when I chose a username

74. anonymous

LOL

75. anonymous

:D

76. anonymous

you are an Electrical engineer!

77. anonymous

thats y i chose my original name

78. anonymous

|*-*| nice

79. anonymous

what does uzma stand for?

80. anonymous

the great ;)

81. anonymous

nice ^_^

82. anonymous

I believe that each and everyone of you is going to be someone great in the future, just don't remember a girl with the username sstarica =P

83. anonymous

I mean, dont forget*

84. anonymous

>_<...typo..is hunting me

85. anonymous

^_^" aha

86. anonymous

thats nice...u are a girl?

87. anonymous

yeh prob , but a mathematician isnt as well know as any other profession

88. anonymous

didn't I sound like one? o_o, you never know what a mathematican can do

89. anonymous

^_^

90. anonymous

uzma >_> you thought I was a dude this whole time?

91. anonymous

cant do anything. They study all the stuff that engineers use to make useful stuff

92. anonymous

no i dint think about that...who cares a girl or guy....if the forum is good, its ok

93. anonymous

lol, I agree uzma ^_^

94. anonymous

lol elec, every profession has its use :)

95. anonymous

what do u guess me?:P

96. anonymous

it would be easier for a engineer to swap with a mathematician, than it would for a mathematician to swap with an engineer. For starters engineering involves group work and gets quite stressful at times, whereas maths is all independant

97. anonymous

mathematicans can do stuff engineers can't do , engineers can do stuff mathematicans can't do, CS majors can do stuff engineers can't do and so on ~

98. anonymous

you're a guy uzma :)

99. anonymous

it's like a cycle elec ^_^

100. anonymous

:d

101. anonymous

m a girl:p

102. anonymous

that's why all exist together ^_^ to help each other out in different fields

103. anonymous

LOL! I'm sorry >_< I strike again and do the same mistake all over a again!

104. anonymous

but uzma = sounds more like a guy's name .-.

105. anonymous

star is right.every1 has its on worth,

106. anonymous

we all work for one goal , to make a better world ^_^

107. anonymous

no its not even a co-name :)

108. anonymous

lol, my dearest apologies :)

109. anonymous

yeh but some maths is just rubbish , like some of linear algebra , and what about pure maths , whats the application to socity there :P

110. anonymous

awww np :)

111. anonymous

:) someday, you'll face a problem that not only a mathematican can solve it for you. You will understand later

112. anonymous

look elec..this is our own perception, how do we take things

113. anonymous

all you really need is calculus , rest is BS

114. anonymous

lol uzma calm down ^_^

115. anonymous

i m...dont worry about me:)

116. anonymous

not really, how can you understand calculus without knowing the basics in the first place?

117. anonymous

are you telling me you became great in calculus without taking the 1, 2 3's in school? :)

118. anonymous

or 1 x 1? 3x + z?

119. anonymous

Number theory was widely regarded as a toy that no one would ever be able to find a use for any practical purpose. Now the entirety of our electronic security infrastructure is based on its precepts.

120. anonymous

good show pol..we can find the application of other fields like wise:)

121. anonymous

stages, we all took stages in life just like in math

122. anonymous

yep ^_^

123. anonymous

networking is based on topology....another pure maths which sucks u

124. anonymous

yeh, but as an elec engineer ill prob learn bout that stuff, and its application. but just doing tons of maths without being able to sit down and build something of use is well , pointless

125. anonymous

its easy to come n easy to go :p

126. anonymous

networking is also based on linear algebra.

127. anonymous

lol :) you cannot build anything without accurate measurements :)

128. anonymous

u cant even cook or urself without measurement :p

129. anonymous

lol, that's more to chemistry ;D

130. anonymous

for*

131. anonymous

maths too star

132. anonymous

it's funny though, I still can't cook >_< ;D

133. anonymous

yes it's true! Lol

134. anonymous

oh great me too ;)

135. anonymous

but I exceed you with one point uzma, I can cook eggs LOL

136. anonymous

m 1 step ahead.i can cook chicken ;)

137. anonymous

uyeh, but you dont need a maths degree to deal with ratios on a recipe :p see what I am talking about , most of the practical ( and therefore , useful ) maths is taught in high school and first or second year maths ( the stuff that engineers do ). Higher maths is sorta useless

138. anonymous

>_> we're equal

139. anonymous

not really, higher math = deals with advanced problems ^_^

140. anonymous

it's not abt a math degree elec, it's about learning and wanting to learn more :)

141. anonymous

and how to apply the things you learn in what you do everyday ^_^

142. anonymous

that's all~

143. anonymous

yup ..thats all.congrats star we won ;):D

144. anonymous

lol, there was a war here? o_o oh my, I didn't mean it that way

145. anonymous

so here's a medal for u too :p

146. anonymous

kidding just kidding :D

147. anonymous

I already gave you all a mdeal for trying to solve the question lol and thank you ^_^

148. anonymous

>_>

149. anonymous

otherwise we r all frends :)

150. anonymous

yep ^_^ lol

151. anonymous

let's check the other questions~

152. anonymous

yea...bye

153. anonymous

lol =P cheer up
