100 minus 6(the percent) would be 94, so you do 69 minus 94% = 4.14(the sales tax). then add 4.14 to 69 and you get $73.14

    100 minus 5.5(the sales tax) = 94.5. so you do 2.99 - 94.5% which is 0.16 which is 16 cents in money. then, $2.99 plus $0.16 = $3.15

You want to buy a pair of socks with are $2.99 with a 5.5% sales tax. 100-5.5=94.5. Then get the 2.99 and do 2.99-94.5% on a calculator. (if you can't use a calculator, use mental math). 2.99-94.5% is $0.16. Get your sock amount and add the sales tax and you get $4.15, your total amount.

I don't know, this is how I do it to know that I am doing it right. by the way, when you do these kind of problems, you always have to do 100 minus the sales tax to do the problem. do you get it?
