the sum of the first 8 terms in an arithmetic progression is 56 and the first term is 0.Find the thirteenth term.

    Ok, so you know term 1 is 0, which means term 2 is x, term 3 is 2x, etc. Add up x through 8x, which gives you 36x = 56. x is thus 56/36. Term 13 is 13x, so you have 13*56/36 = 20.2222222 or 20 and 2-ninths. Hope that helps! happyboy

    wait, sorry revision. term 13 is 12x, so your answer is 12*56/36 so answer is 56/3. my apologies
