I am a first year maths student, in the summer would like to study some mechanics and optix. Can you give suggestions?

I'm currently using the young and freedman book (12th?) for optics waves, E&M, and mechanics. The 3-part Feynman lectures are also good for E & M. If you're going to start Modern Physics/ Quantum, you could try "Serway, Moses, & Moyer, Modern Physics, 3rd edition"
