how do you estimate quotients with mixed numbers?

    the problem is 18 and 7 over 12 divided by 5 and 2 over s7

    i dunno about estimate; but to figure it out right you convert them to impropers by multiplying the denominator by the integer and then adding the numerator back into it like this: 12(18) +7 7(5)+2 --------- divby ------- 12 7 223 37 ---- divby ---- 12 7

    to guesstimate; i would say; 18.5 is close and 5.25 is close
