r + (-12) = 19 can someone please help me i dont understand this problem

    r - 12 = 19 now undo -12 by adding 12 to both sides

    so r = 19+12 then plug value back in original equation to check

    adding a negative is same as subtracting a positive

    undo -9 by adding 9 to both sides to keep the equation "balanced"-whatever you do to one side, you must do to the other

    they are opposites...when you add a number and its opposite you get 0

    p + (-9) = -9 p-9 = -9 + 9 +9 p=0 check: 0 + (-9) = -9 -9=-9
