Hypertension is high blood pressure means increase in the pressure of the blood against the arterial wall, atherosclerosis is hardening of the arteries due to fats which leads to constriction of blood flow; these two may lead to stroke (brain attack) because of limited blood supply to the brain, in which the brain needs around 20% of all blood supply pumped by the heart. I'm so sure about the percentage but definitely it is around 20%
