## anonymous 5 years ago i^(50)

1. anonymous

that is i as in $\sqrt{-1}$?

2. anonymous

$i^1=i$ $i^2=-1$ $i^3=-i$ $i^4=1$

3. anonymous

then the pattern repeats i, -1,-i, 1, i, -1, -i, 1, ... every 4. so just divide 50 by 4

4. anonymous

you get a remainder of 2, so $i^{50}=i^2=-1$
