    just substitute 2y-2 for the x in equation 3x-y=14 3(2y-2)-y=14 6y-6-y=14 5y-6=14 5y=20 y=4

    then plug in 4 in for y in the equation x = 2y - 2 x=2(4)-2 x=8-2 x=6
