For the following equation state the value of the discriminant and then describe the nature of the solutions. -14x^2+5x-8=0 what is the value of the discriminant? which is correct? the equation has one real solution? has two imaginary solutions? or has two real solutions?

    the discriminant is by definition, b^2-4ac if it is positive then there are two real solutions if it is 0 it has one solution and if it is negative, then it has imaginary roots

    the discriminant for this one is therefore -423 and it has two imaginary roots
