jquery is awesome and very easy to pick up without any javascript experience. I would recommend familiarizing yourself with CSS selectors and basic info about the DOM. Then just dive right in on their site and start looking at examples. i think I used this book if you're looking to make a purchase: http://www.amazon.com/jQuery-Action-Second-Bear-Bibeault/dp/tags-on-product/1935182323
