Suggestions or revisions to this intro paragraph? "Damn these human beings; if I had invented them I would go hide my head in a bag." Said by the author of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain portrays the shame he sees in the nature of humans. It looks good; here are some of my suggestions to further improve the paragraph: Change "said by" to "stated by" (underline The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) change sees to perceives change his novel to Twain (possibly be more specific with overall behavior) Instead of "by the use of...", use "Through the use of a ridiculing and satirical tone... I would remove the 4th sentence "The author constantly...", and maybe tie it in to your conclusion instead. Finally, I would combine the 3rd and 5th sentences to be "Through the use of a ridiculing and satirical tone, Twain employs wit and irony to banter individuals and society itself, creating his own strong statements regarding religious hypocrisy, racism, and human nature. (state what stance he takes on these as well if you can) The trick with the intro paragraph is to be to the point, clarifying any "loose statements", while being witty about it. I'm guessing this is for an AP English class; just gone done w/my exam for the class) Sides that, looks good :)
