    collect all the polynomial powers and add or subtract them (1/16)x^4 + (6/7)x^3+(3/8)x^2+2) +(-9/16)x^4+ (5/8)x^2-2) = ---------------------------------- -8/16 x^4+ 6/7x^3 + 8/8 x^2 +0 =(-1/2)x^4 + (6/7)x^3 + x^2 answer
