Its Art... One one who code are Artists and they create awesome things with their Imagination( and of-course using the Awesome art already created by other Artists)

The artistic side comes out from the fact that are a heck of a lot of ways to do the same thing, but they do not usually have the same properties (like speed of execution and ease of writing/reading). I would say it's a weird mix of art, engineering, mathematics and of course logic that can keep your mind so busy so you forget about the real world LOL
