when did east and west germany officially reunite?

    Since 3 Oct. 1990 there are no east and west Germany anymore. There is only the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland).

    Not quite there yet imo. ;) Just because there is a documented date referring to the "unification" does not mean true unification. Eastern and Western German society existed with dramatic differences while the "wall" was up, that to this day people are still adjusting to the concept of unified Germany, except maybe the newer generation.
