What are some examples of Machiavellian leaders within the past 30 years to present?

    I suppose that depends on how you define being Machiavellian. If you mean scheming, plotting, and power grabbing, then look at anyone who's taken power by means of a coup. Some would say George W. Bush and/or wingspan Cheney were Machiavellian in engineering the win of the disputed 2000 US presidential election.
