More specifically, what if the website didn't list an author or date?
List the web site's name as author, e.g. "In text citation of online material is perceived difficult by many students and scholars alike" (creativewisdom.org, 2011). If you cannot find any info on when the web site was last updated, but you know when the page was first set up, e.g., from the 'about page', it is (creativewisdom.org, 1997-2011), or else (creativewisdom, n.d.) - n.d.= no date.

I think you should include the exact date, to the day, that you sourced the material, and the full URL of the resource itself, maybe as a footnote. I'm not sure, but I'm sure I read that somewhere recently.
