Fun Fact #31: Another great crab, that happens to live on an island that the coconut crab also lives on, is the Red crab (Gecarcoidea natalis). This crab is not huge, or even that big for that matter but there are millions of them! When the wet season comes (and a few other factors align) these several million crabs decide to migrate . At the same time! (on Christmas Island; its only about 8km's long) So you get a giant walking blanket of red crabs: http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/publications/christmas/red-crabs.html
