    Actually w3schools is not a good place, it's highly criticized and has some sketchy practices (see http://w3fools.com/). I would suggest any of the alternatives mentioned in that site or the videos at educator.com (http://educator.com/computer-science/html/strine/) which are accirate and for the beginner, but give a good understanding of the principles behind it, as well as explaining why things are the way they are, so you can remember better. It's the difference between having a Spanish dictionary and having a Spanish tutor.

    After learning the basics and the codes, it's up to your creativity in applying the language. Try visiting inspirational websites for inspiration of building your own and never chicken out experimenting with new things.
