    Granny whizzes around the rink and is suddenly confronted with a girl at rest directly in her path. Rathe than kocking her over, she picks her up and continues in motion without "braking" Data: Granny's mass: 50kg Granny's Vi: 3 m/s Girl's mass: 25 kg Girl's Vi: 0 m/s What is their momentum before and after?

    Apply conservation of momentum Scenario 1 momentum before is mv = 50kgx3m/s +25kgx0m/s = 150kg.m/s -> momentum after is mv = 50kgx0m/s + 25kgxAm/s solving, A = (150kg.m/s) / (25kg) = 6 m/s
