So I've downloaded the course materials on the page:
I get a zip file called "18-01sc-fall-2010".
When I try to unzip this, I get asked for a password.
Does anyone know what the password is?
Actually, even without the password it appears to do at least some unzipping, but the resulting files don't seem to be anything I can use.
I'm thinking that this file includes all the materials for the course other than the videos...

I also downloaded this file as I want to start this course soon, after doing some prep work at Khan Academy.
I don't think it is necessary as all the material seems to be available from links in each study session. I guess the password protection is to allow only fee paying students to access everything.
Try downloading it again, I just did and it didn't ask me for a password.
I have downloaded it few weeks back, however I was never asked for password.

After several attempts I have now got this to work correctly. First it asked for password, then it didn't. First none of the links worked correctly - all showed page not found, now they are working and I have all the course materials saved locally.
I am downloading the lectures as well, but at first was confused by the fact that each lecture covers several sessions of the online course.
I have been playing around with this as not all the files were extracted depending on the method used to unzip.
One problem I found was that because many file and folder names are very long, MS Windows OS could not handle them as the path had too many characters. This means deleting, renaming etc doesn't work. A way round this might be to ensure that the contents folder has the shortest path you can create.
That's very odd. Maybe you should used some other software to unzip it.
