How about posting your own thoughts on it rather than expect us to do the hard graft for you? We might be able to help you too if you do.

I realise my reply won't make me popular with those who would rather be spoon fed rather than do the hard graft themselves AND be helped to a better way of thinking about the question being asked.

Open Study risks being a convenient location for lazy students/pupils who cannot be arsed to put hard graft into doing the hard work that has to be put into understanding and appreciating Literature with all the riches that is has.(Speaking as a proud independent Self Learner who sets her own Agenda, Questions etc with resulting Theories the outcome of all of the above).

Proper understanding of Jack London who I have read, is that he is an alcoholic and that 'the call to the wild' expresses this desire and longing for isolation away from all the interpersonal troubles he has as an [lifelong] alcoholic. Any Student missing this would lose marks for failing to read the text properly. This is basic Jack London.
